Black Diamond Storm 550

The Black Diamond Storm 550 is a rugged headlamp for technical adventures in demanding conditions. With a maximum output of 550 lumens and an IP67 rating, the Storm is resistant to dust and water immersion down to 1 metre for up to 30 minutes. The housing is sturdy and compact, with an ergonomic design that remains comfortable during long treks.

Operation is kept simple with two large buttons that are easy to use even while wearing gloves. The first button switches the lamp on and off and adjusts the brightness continuously. The second button quickly switches between three fixed settings: low, medium and high. Thanks to the Mode Memory function, the lamp remembers the last brightness level used, so it resumes at the desired level when switched on. The Digital Lockout function prevents the lamp from turning on accidentally in a backpack or pocket.

The Storm features three lens options: a flood lens for broad ambient light, a spot lens for focused light at a distance, and an RGB spot lens with red, green and blue night-vision modes. The red mode is ideal for reading maps without disrupting night vision, while the white peripheral lighting is useful for close-range tasks, such as adjusting rappelling equipment.

The internal 3.6V 1800mAh Li-ion battery is charged via a waterproof USB-C port. Pass-through charging allows you to use the lamp while it is charging. The maximum runtime is 70 hours. The internal structure and headband are partly made from recycled PET material.
