CamelBak became popular with the idea of hands-free drinking on the move: you stay in motion and do not have to stop to grab a bottle. The brand is known for practical innovations, such as reservoirs designed for quick filling, reduced leakage, and comfortable carrying—exactly what you want during intensive use.
Did you know that the foundation for the hydration pack emerged in the late 1980s, when founder Michael Eidson improvised a hands-free drinking solution during a long, hot race? That “working prototype” evolved into what we now know as the CamelBak concept.
Hydration packs – backpacks with an integrated hydration system and smart storage compartments. Popular models (such as the BFM/Motherlode line) are designed for intensive days and larger loads.
Reservoirs & bladders – including (Mil-Spec) variants. Many users choose a reservoir based on capacity (e.g. 1.5L / 2L / 3L), how it fits in the carrier, and the type of hose/connection.
Hoses, bite valves & accessories – replacement parts and upgrades to keep your system fresh, leak-free, and user-friendly.
Water bottles & drinkware – for everyday use, training, or on the go, with models often focused on leak prevention and easy cleaning.
Tip: mainly looking for “carrying + drinking” in one? Start with a hydration pack. Want to expand your existing bag/plate carrier instead? A separate reservoir with the right attachment is often the quickest solution.
Useful for further shopping: Hydration pouches & carriers.
You will find Crux® in many CamelBak setups: designed for high flow and ease of use. Crux reservoirs are often praised for features such as an ergonomic fill opening/handle and a lockable (on/off) solution to help prevent leaks. Several Crux models are also described as delivering more water per sip than older systems.
Capacity: 1.5L for shorter sessions; 2–3L for longer days or warm weather.
Carrying method: hydration pack for an all-in-one solution; separate bladder if you already have a carrier/pack.
Compatibility: check the connections, hose routing, and whether your pack/compartment supports the bladder size.
Use: tactical/airsoft often calls for durability and quick access; outdoor use may place extra emphasis on weight.
Hygiene is key. Rinse your reservoir after use, let it dry thoroughly, and use a cleaning kit when you use the system frequently (especially with sports drinks). Also check the hose, bite valve, and seals regularly to prevent problems during use.
As a guideline: 1.5L is often enough for shorter training sessions or skirmishes. For longer days or higher exertion, many users choose 2L or 3L. Also consider what physically fits in your pack/carrier.
A hydration pack provides hands-free hydration: you drink through a hose without stopping or using your hands. This can be convenient while moving, training, and in situations where you need to keep your attention on your surroundings.
Crux® is a line of CamelBak reservoirs designed for flow and ease of use, with features such as easier filling and solutions to help prevent leaks (such as a lockable on/off function).
Rinse after use, let everything dry completely, and clean periodically with a suitable brush kit or cleaning tablets. Replace parts if you notice wear or a persistent odor or taste.
