The Black Diamond Storm 550 is a rugged headlamp built for technical adventures in demanding conditions. With a maximum output of 550 lumens and an IP67 rating, the Storm is fully protected against dust and can withstand submersion in water up to 1 metre deep for 30 minutes. The compact housing is ergonomically shaped and comfortable to wear over extended periods.
Operation is straightforward, with two oversized buttons that remain easy to use even with gloved hands. One button powers the lamp on and off and adjusts brightness continuously, while the other switches quickly between three fixed output levels: low, medium, and high. The Mode Memory feature ensures the lamp remembers your last-used brightness setting, so it picks up exactly where you left it. The Digital Lockout function prevents accidental activation inside a pack or pocket.
The Storm comes with three lens options: a flood lens for broad ambient lighting, a spot lens for focused long-range illumination, and an RGB spot lens with red, green, and blue night vision modes. The red mode is ideal for reading maps without disrupting night vision, while the white peripheral lighting is well suited for close-range tasks such as rigging rappels.
The internal 3.6V 1800mAh Li-ion battery charges via a waterproof USB-C port. Pass-through charging allows the lamp to remain in use while connected to a power source. Maximum burn time is 70 hours. The internal structure and headband incorporate recycled PET materials.
